However, consider this is the one most important thing that you will ever have to do in your life to prolong your one life, and you only get one chance. Only a genius could make "seat of the pants" changes necessary. The rest of us take careful plans and expediting. Blow this by doing it on the cheap and you hang it up, no reruns or redos. You want every odd in your favor, and remember, you do not farm the success of this one out. You can not hire it out. This is a do it yourself "save your own hide" project. Please read that one more time. If you can find someone that can make all the decisions daily that will affect your life, they would have to be "more" then your twin. Every spoonful you eat and every step you take will be in on the total of what makes the difference in your new life. You need as much knowledge as you can get, make some good decisions and update and re-evaluate results as you go every day. Get feedback and results as often as hourly when necessary. Learn what is working, try to understand this adjusting your results varys with many many unknown factors. Do not be hyper (as long as you keep them within prescribed range) about up and downs, understanding use a yardstick of what happens to others, but be sure your trend is going the right way. In other words, the trend over months is that you are now gradually getting better and better results as you personally learn the steps that work for you.. I used to read a sign in a motorcycle store, that said "if you want to save a cheap head, get a cheap helmet." You can pay $100 a week for prescriptions and I know of none for any amount of money that can match or equal what you can do working off prescriptions long term with careful life management. So in this case, spending money is not the determining factor. However, because you may not have to spend big bucks on organized medical expenses to succeed does not mean you should not spend money to make it easy for you to personally take control of your diabetes control. We suggest you completely redo your food supply, your appliances and accessories to make it fit your new life and most of all your new changes in lifestyle. If nothing else, it will remind you that you have life changes going on that are very significant and all know you will try to go back and do what you have always done. This will be almost like moving to a new country with a new life style, a new food supply and utensils, serving and eating times and overall basic philosophy.. You will want to make it difficult to do what you always did and very easy to do what you know you need to do in your new life style. This will often mean major changes for you life partner and how you do will depend to a great extent on how much they are willing to bend your life style direction as well and support you. This will be a major sacrifice for them, but will help you tremendously and will undoubtedly improve their health and life expectancy as well. If you live alone, we suggest you immediately give away or throw out everything in the home that you should no longer have in your life. You will need to first make a decision on what your philosophy on diet is going to be your play book. If you decide to follow the typical doctors dietician, you are going to be given a diet that includes something like 50 "carbs" a day. If you read up on this, most, that I have met, will conclude in short order this is not the way to go. For example, the high carb (you can still eat lots of sugar people, just not so much) ran down the Atkins low carb weight loss diet system and it took years of studies to convince them it worked, but even with proof after proof they still cling to outmoded "high carb" beliefs that wind up costing diabetics a relatively shortened life expectancy from my viewpoint. This is a very important decision and many will decide like the smoker, that cuts down to one pack a day, that they really do not want to give up what caused the problem...they just want to taper off gradually. We say you do not have the time...damage that has occurred has already gone way to far and every day continued makes if more severe and often totally un recoupable. Error on the too severe a restrictions for now. We say you must do this because you can not change your mind later and say you should have done this to prolong your life. You will not be able to redo. Once you are scheduled to be box upped...(little or no notice) no use talking about, and no amount of cleverness or money, will bring you back to what "should have been done". You only get the NOW chance to bring damage to a halt, and say "no further". Six months from now you re evaluate and add back in all you decide was unnecessary to have cut out If you do not have food in your home that should be off your diet.. (okay so maybe you can get away with a little bit, but this is like the boozer that can go down to a couple of drinks. it wont work). gone, you can not be tempted and even a little bit makes it tough. We say go cold turkey. (means quit everything suspect totally) and suffer, plan on going thru extreme addict withdrawal and get it over with. Spend a lot of money putting in a good inventory readily available everywhere what you should eat and be doing. Buy the best of this and no scrimping on the quality. Sure, you are used to spending half this for a dozen eggs, or now paying twice normal for walnuts, etc. Remember, you are no longer spending $5 a gallon for soft drinks etc. and you will find you actually have to work at it long term to spend as much as you did on your old life style total on what was mostly expensive 'junk" food. You may deliberately spend twice what you used to spend on standard natural foods, and price on that is no longer any consideration, but now you save considerably by not buying "processed foods" or "junk" foods at all. We suggest you invest in a food dryer as you go along, a blender, a vegetable juicer, a steamer, and small items you may not have. We suggest you order an inexpensive mini fridge and have it shipped directly to your office. homedepot.com has many $100 to $160 for example. Stock your office refrigerator with our suggested food lists and graze when ever you feel the slightest urge. Stock at least five kinds of nuts, and not necessarily in the frig, some even in your auto glove box. For example, make it a point to eat three Brazil nuts every day. That'll provide you with 200 mcg of selenium, Eating a handful of walnuts every now and then can all in itself lower your blood sugar 20 plus per cent according to studies. See elsewhere for our food lists. Keep in mind, Pemmican can be carried in your pocket and eaten on a plane etc or anywhere most any time. The point here is that all of this needs to be in instant reach so you never have a doubt you have food readily available and as much as you want when you want it. This is what we think will work for you. It must be readily available. everywhere you go, in some form, and in unlimited and be quality top grade stuff. You have to restock, rethink and replan your entire life so it WORKS on automatic. That "what was" or used to be, is no longer within reach and is no longer an option or needed.
