We Boil It Down, Easy To Remember

Diabetes is a complicated disease and hard to make sense of but if you read my one sentence reason, (result of two years research) cause or explanation for your diabetes, the solution is apparent in the same sentence. (see previous article)

In addition now.....The very simple.... to follow one..... sentence fix:

From Caveman restricted list, no hunger ever, eat all you want whenever you want and never keep track of anything.

Further simplification: To make it fool proof, throw everything else out of the house and frig and you can not miss. Re: Eating out, Try to buy No outside prepared food, only ingredients.

REMEMBER take your standard "eats" with you.

Caveman foods shopping "restriction rules simplified":

If it has a content label, do not buy it.
  • If your ancestors (where ever in the world they came from 1,000 years ago) could not have obtained this food with a rock or sharp stick, do not buy it.

  • If it does not sprout, rot, or spoil do not buy it.

  • If it did not fly, swim or run in growing up, do not buy it.

Above is a NON diabetic caveman diet list. Diabetics have additional restrictions and cautions because of body damage and the way they now process food.

Example: Carrots and Onions. great food, but cooked release too much sugar too fast for a diabetic, eat them raw only.
Beware of all underground grown foods. Example. Remember, your 1,000 year ago ancestors NEVER ate potatoes. Columbus introduced them to Europe.

Regarding meat, meat grown in US has become factory raised in confinement often a life time standing stressed in pen not much larger then the animal knee deep in manure. An animal designed for grass, force fed grain, never runs in sunlight, fed chemicals and hormones, to mature in a fraction of the normal time. This meat contains as little as 1/20th the Omega 6 and 3 ratio of grass fed meats. It is this imbalance and method of meat production that is causing severe health problems in US with life expectancy plummeting compared to other countries. Locate grass fed meats. (buffalo good but often being subject now to same grain force feed.) (check)

Food shopping list is a start only, The list is over simplification to get this straight in your head how simple shopping for your food really is.

Regarding Eating....Compare this to other diets:

  • No Reading Labels
  • No counting anything
  • No keeping track
  • No clock watching
  • No Going Hungry
  • No limit on how much You can eat
  • No restriction on when you can eat
  • No ratios to keep track of, nothing to add or subtract from the food.

Since you are eating a more narrow variety of food, you need to understand how important the right version is obtained. An example would be eggs. You correctly think since your ancestors likely ate lots of eggs, you should duplicate that. However, remember, your ancestor ate a variety of snake eggs, birds, pheasants, quail etc all free range produced. When you buy eggs in the super market they are almost all raised from chickens. in confinement on wire. (no run, no fly). Free range raised chickens produce eggs for example that have 20 times the Omega 3 that wire raised eggs do. Buy only "free range" eggs.

You will need to get educated on this type of informed caveman shopping.

You will not be able to duplicate much of what caveman had available so you need to augment and modify to make up for these gaps.

We say no "tinned" (canned) food. However, two exceptions. Sardines, (important to eat weekly) and sockeye Alaska Salmon. Both of these are necessary but available year around no other way.

Note: Farmed salmon (not free swim) should be avoided. (big story elsewhere) Tests have shown up to 1/3 of super market salmon sold as "wild" salmon are actually farm raised.

Other exceptions. We say no dairy. (the most intolerance causing food of all) However, we make two important exceptions. Full fat yogurt with "live" cultures, and grass raised butter. Yogurt is predigested by the culture and does not require the enzyme to digest and is a great source of calcium, and the friendly bacteria, in your gut, often killed off, by city water. (caveman did not have to contend with city water.

The grass fed butter is a health fat, requires no lactose enzyme to digest, like milk does, and that contains essential fat elements your body can not manufacture. It comes loaded with CLA almost totally absent in conventional grain raised butter. Must be obtained from the few creameries that stock it specifically. (one in Red Wing Mn.) All butter from Australia and New Zealand is grass fed.

Coconut Oil, (highly recommended for cooking and eating at least one tablespoon daily, is a long chain fat you need. I also give a tablespoon a day to my dog for health reasons. The only two other fats and oils are flaxseed oil and extra virgin olive oil.

Absolutely avoid all trans fats, hydrogenated fats, vegetable oils or man made like Crisco, margarine, Mazola corn oil etc. No Canola.

Absolutely avoid all sweeteners except Stevia. Sugar is "health food" compared to most artificial sweeteners. Absolutely avoid all High fructose corn syrup and MSG. Some restaurants even add this to their salad.
